ABOUT US
APPLiA Hungary Society is a professional association of domestic electronic appliance manufacturers, which currently represents 15 companies and more than 25 leading domestic appliance brands.
Our organization is a member of APPLiA Europe, the European representative organization of household appliance manufacturers and distributors.
The organization, previously known as CECED – Conseil Européen de la Contruction d’appareils Domestiques (European Committee of Domestic Equipment Manufacturers) was established in 1958. Since 1997, the organization has been representing the interests of its members in European institutions in Brussels. The industry directly employs 200,000 people and generates a turnover of 35 billion euros annually. The members manufacture and distribute large domestic appliances (e.g. refrigerators, washing machines, stoves, and dishwashers), small domestic appliances (e.g. food processors, vacuum cleaners), just as heating and cooling devices, primarily for household use.
A little history
We founded our organization under the name of CECED Hungary Domestic Equipment Producing and Distributing Interest Grouping and Representing Society, at that time, on behalf of eleven domestic appliance manufacturing and distribution companies.
Our general meeting decided that from now on, any company manufacturing and distributing electronic devices can join our organization as a member. Accordingly, the name of the association had been changed to CECED Hungary Electronic Equipment Producing and Distributing Interest Grouping and Representing Society.
In line with our European organization, we have also changed our name. Our international organization continues its activities under the name APPLiA Europe, and we do so as APPLiA Hungary Society.

Our organizational structure
General meeting
The main body of our society is the general meeting, which biannually holds general meetings, in May and December.
Director
Our organization is run by a director, elected from the representatives of the members by the general meeting on a rotational basis every two years or one.
Company manager
For the operational management of APPLiA Hungary Society, the company manager is responsible.
Working groups
The professional activity is supported by working groups consisting of employees of the members, and occasionally of invited external experts.

Our professional areas
In 2019, the European Union declared a climate change emergency and summarized the main goals and the solutions leading to the goals in the so-called Green Deal document issued on December 11. The objectives concerning our industry are formulated in the framework of two main areas: energy efficiency and the circular economy.
